Jerry Dixey is excited to announce the Bonneville Classic Road Tour, which is set to begin this summer. This tour will follow the successful Classic Road Tour from Scottsdale to Pomona.

Not one to slow down, Jerry Dixey has planned another bus adventure this summer. Travelers will gather in Lincoln, Nebraska, at the Speedway Motors Museum of American Speed on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. The group will dive into the museum’s captivating exhibits all day Wednesday. On Thursday, participants will board the bus and journey west, with Cheyenne, Wyoming, as their first overnight stop. Here, they will explore authentic cowboy and western attractions.

On Friday afternoon, the tour will arrive in Salt Lake City, where headquarters will be set up for the weekend. During Saturday and Sunday, attendees will go on a 90-minute excursion to Wendover and the Bonneville Salt Flats to witness the thrilling track, pits, and the start of time trials. Additionally, Saturday’s agenda includes visiting the hot rod activities surrounding the Wendover Nugget, a lively hub during Speed Week.

The adventure wraps up on Monday morning with a return trip, stopping overnight in Cheyenne. We will return to Lincoln on Wednesday in time for a celebratory wrapup party at the Brazilian Steakhouse, a favorite from past tours.

Jerry has collaborated with Clay Smith from Speedway Motors regarding this announcement. The museum recently unveiled the Craig Breedlove jet car and has taken on the stewardship of George Poteet’s record-setting streamliner.

Additional stops are being planned, including a possible visit with Dave Kindig at Bitchin’ Rides.

The Bonneville Mile will be held July 11-13, 2025. This course will cover 1-1/2 miles on the Bonneville Salt Flats, featuring timing traps at the 1/2-, 1-, and 1-1/2-mile marks and an extra mile for shutdown. The course will be located as close to the end of the road as possible to minimize salt exposure to vehicles. Spectator parking will be available on the salt, but please note that there will be no pit areas and no work allowed on vehicles on the Salt Flats.

All vehicles must be street legal and must be driven to and from the course. There will be no pits on the Salt Flats, however, a staging area will be available in the parking lot across from the truck stop at the Interstate exit. Vehicles will be escorted in groups to and from the end of the road.

Secure trailer parking will be available on the airport grounds in Wendover, and hangar space will be provided for overnight car parking. They are also working on having drive-on lifts, wash-down equipment, and salt neutralizer resources available at the airport.

The rules will follow those used at the Arkansas Mile: Cars from 2009 and newer can run in factory trim up to 199 mph, while vehicles of all ages are welcome. Please refer to the website for complete rules. If you exceed the speed limit for your safety equipment, your time slip and run will still count, but you must compete at a shorter distance for the remainder of the event. For example, if your street car runs 206 mph in the 1-1/2 mile, you can only run 1 mile for the rest of the event.

The cost to register will be $1,650. In case of cancelation, you will receive a 75 percent refund of $1,237.50, or you can choose to transfer your registration to next year’s event or any future ECTA event.
