TREMEC TKX

The TKX is not a redesigned TKO. Yes, it’s a five-speed, and yes, it will be replacing the TKO, but all around this is a completely new transmission. Every aspect of this unit has been tweaked and worked over to create a five-speed solution that will perform right there with the Magnum. If you’ve ever owned a TKO you know that it has some drawbacks. The TKO doesn’t like to shift at high rpm, and has a bulky, squared-off case that makes it difficult to fit into some cars without modification. Those key elements have all been addressed with the TKX.

The TKX retains the ability to bolt onto many of the GM and Ford four-speed bellhousings, it still allows for custom shifter locations, and retains the ability to drive both mechanical and electronic speedos.

There is a 3.27 and a 2.87 available First gear ratio along with Fifth gear overdrive in 0.68, 0.72, or 0.81, while Fourth gear is 1 to 1. Couple this gearing with the ability to shift at high-rpm of 7,500 and a 600 lb-ft torque capacity and you have a highly desirable street and ’strip transmission.

Strong Pulse

Classic Instruments is now offering a speedometer drive adapter for 1951-1956 Ford-O-Matic transmissions. Due to the unique speedometer drive arrangement found in those transmissions, connecting an aftermarket speedometer was difficult. This adapter takes that special arrangement and converts it to the more common 7/8-inch 18 speedometer cable output to connect a mechanical cable or electronic sensor. The high-quality adapter is machined from steel and reuses the original Ford-O-Matic drive gear for a simple installation.

SEMA Award Winner

Flaming River was awarded the Winner of the Street Rod/Custom Car Product category for its Microsteer Electric Power Assist Steering System (PN FR40200KT).

The unique Microsteer Tuning Box allows you to adjust the amount of assist by using a rotary potentiometer or you can make the system speed sensitive by connecting the wheel speed signal sensor to the Tuning Box for automatic sensitivity adjustment. A mode selection switch on the Tuning Box allows you to choose your preferred method, manual or wheel speed.

If your current application does not have a speed sensor already on the vehicle, Flaming River includes the FR40200S Microsteer Speed Sensor for automatic steering sensitivity control.

Unveiled at the 2020 SEMA360 Show, Speedway Motors took home top honors in the Interior Accessory Product category for the Omega Kustom Avant 6-Gauge Set and Electric Speedometer (PN 91128362). The kit features a 3-3/8-inch electric speedometer and tachometer along with performance timers set up for 0-to-60, eighth- and quarter-mile functions. The fuel, oil, water, and voltage gauges measure 2-1/16 inch.

Vintage Air has taken home the Runner Up award at the 2020 SEMA360 Show for its all-new cast Front Runner drive system for GM LT1 and LS engines in the Street Rod/Custom Car Product category. This system is the shortest and most compact front-drive system available, which provides more package space for electric fan modules and accessories. Additionally, the low-profile casting clears OEM and most aftermarket throttle bodies without a wedge spacer.
